Reintroducing myself to an old friend...

A number of years ago (never mind how many), a little show opened at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.  That little show was called RUMPELSTILTSKIN, and it went on to play 1,200 performances.  It was madcap, silly, popular with kids AND adults, and tons of fun.  It remains my longest-running show.  (So far!)

In the years since, I was commissioned to write another version of the story about the little straw-into-gold spinner, and that's the show which I've licensed for the past decade or so.  While it retained a few elements from the Vegas show, it is a completely different animal (with a completely original score.)  The Vegas show had a cast of three.  The second version has a full cast, new characters, sub-plots, a chorus, etc.

But the original show has always held a special place in my heart.

And now--a number of years later (never mind how many), I have the perfect opportunity to reintroduce  a revamped version of that show.  This time I'm borrowing elements from the second version of the show, expanding the cast to five, and adding two new songs.  It'll be presented by East Bay Children's Theatre, who have been presenting my works for quite a while now, in October.  They're dipping their toes back into the touring waters gently, since so many shows are still being cancelled around here do to the virus.

So this show's small-cast is a safer bet for them.  And a lot of fun for me to get to revisit this material after a number of years.

(Never mind how many.)
